No matter how many compliments someone gets, this is the one they will absolutely love. And remember you because of it. You’ll have to rub off your powers of observation for this, but the potential it has for increasing your relationship is worth it.
All you have to do is carefully watch your partner – or someone else you would like to start a relationship with even if you aren’t talking to them at the moment. I want you to notice a quality they have, but not the first one you notice. Then we are going to compliment it in a personalized specific way.
Two differences from typical compliments give this compliment a real jolt. One is that you are complimenting something that other people don’t necessarily compliment your partner on. This shows that you truly looked at and got a sense of the real person.
The second is that you are expressing it in a very personal and specific way. Note that “personal” here does not mean “romantic” not inappropriately close. It simply means that you are talking about one of their families — something people don’t usually pay compliments about.
Typical compliments might be “That’s a great suit” or “That was kind of you.” The first is not specific and the second is not personal.
So you might say things like “You just glow in that color” (specific) or “You always seem to think of the kind thing to do” (personal).
If someone has a great smile or a good sense of humor, it’s likely that they typically get compliments on those things. Seek out the other wonderful things about people and give them the compliment they will love.
